So you're thinking of standing for Synod...

Every five years the entire General Synod is re-elected giving 378 people a chance to bring the social and ethnic diversity of contemporary society to the Church of England's governing body. Given you're here on our Synod elections website, you probably knew that already but the chances are there are plenty of things you don't know about serving on Synod.

This site contains a wealth of information on how to go about standing for election and what to expect once you are elected. Our specially commissioned videocast, filmed at General Synod in February 2010, gives you a glimpse into life as a Synod member and for prospective candidates is essential viewing.

Given synodical terms don't exactly trip off the tonque, we've also included informative pages, presented to you by Synod members. These are accompanied by helpful resources, including a downloadable poster and leaflet for churches.
